Ingredients

  • Marinade:
  • 1 ½ lbs/750g sirloin or flank steak
  • ½ cup beer
  • ½ cup ketchup
  • 2 T veg oil
  • 2 T brown sugar
  • 1 T balsamic vinegar
  • 1 tsp W sauce
  • 3 cloves garlic minced

Step 1

With a sharp knife, slash the steak to ensure steak will lie flat. Combine all marinade ingred and whisk til blended. Place steak in dish and cover with marinade. Cover dish and leave in fridge overnight or several hours, turning occasionally. Remove steak from marinade. Place steak on BBQ or using the broiler, cook the steak 4 to 6 mins per side, or til desired doneness (baste occasionally with marinade). Remove to cutting board, tent with foil; let stand 5 mins. Carve steak thinly across the grain on the diagonal.
