Ingredients

  • 3/4 c butter
  • 1 1/4 c all purpose flour
  • 1 1/4 c quick-cooking oats
  • 3/4 c packed brown sugar
  • 1/2 tsp baking soda
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 24 caramels
  • 1/4 c milk
  • 1 c semisweet choc chips
  • 1/2 c chopped walnuts (optional)

Preparation

Step 1

Melt butter 30-45 seconds until softened.
Combine flour, oats, brown sugar, soda and salt; stir into butter until blended. Set one-third of mixture aside for topping.
Press remaining mixture into 8 inch square dish. Cook uncovered in microwave for 2-3 mins or until crust is raised and set (will be uneven); rotating a half turn after each minute.
Heat caramels and milk until melted and smooth, stirring every minute.
Sprinkle chips and nuts over crust.
Pour caramel mixture over all. Sprinkle oat mixture on top=press down lightly. Microwave 3-4 mins until caramel is bubbly, rotating quarter turn each minute.
