Preparation

Step 1

In a small mixing bowl combine sugar, ginger, clove, paprika, onion powder, cinnamon, and nutmeg. Mix the seasoned sugar mixture well. Place aluminum foil on a cookie sheet, cover the pan with the foil, if you fail to do this, you may have burnt sugar on your pan, and it will take awhile to clean off. Place ham, open meat side down onto the pan. Sprinkle with the seasoned sugar mixture press sugar onto the outside of the ham. You may not use all of the seasoned sugar mixture.
Gently heat the seasoned sugar mixture on the ham. Wave the flame quickly over the sugar, you want the sugar to brown, not burn. Staying in one area, and moving out from there slowly will make this easier, as you will be heating the sugar in a continual direction. This whole process will take about 15 minutes, so be patient. You can sprinkle more sugar on top of the already browned parts of the ham and make the crust thicker.

Second Recipe:
Directions:
Preheat oven to 375 ° F. Place ham, cut end down, in a large broiler or baking pan. Mix orange juice and pear nectar in a bowl. Bake ham for 15 minutes basting frequently with juices.
Mix blackberry honey and brown sugar together in a small bowl.
Brush honey glaze mixture over ham and bake for another hour or until internal temperature reads 140 °F.

Honey Baked Ham® stores uses a chef’s butane torch to caramelize the glaze to a crust. A liberal amount of honey glaze and brown sugar brushed over the ham after the internal temperature is up will allow the torch to caramelize the ham quickly. Slight crust is desirable.

Third Recipe:

1.Stud ham with cloves.
2.Put ham in a large baking pan with the large end down.
3.Mix orange juice and pineapple juice to create a marinade.
4.Baste ham with fruit mixture and allow it to marinade for approximately 30 minutes. If using a ham that is not sliced, cut slices into the meat to allow the juices to penetrate.
5.Heat oven to 375.
6.Bake ham for 30 minutes, basting every 10 minutes with the fruit juice mixture.
7.Put sugar, molasses and honey in a small mixing bowl and stir to blend.
8.Brush honey sugar glaze onto the ham liberally.
9.Bake for 1 hour and 20 minutes.
10.Turn the oven to the broiler setting.
11.Cook on broil for about 5 minutes, or until the external coating becomes crisp and caramelizes. This step can also be done with a butane torch.
