Ingredients

  • 4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 3/4 cups vetable shorting
  • 1 table spoon granulated sugar
  • 2 teasoopns salt
  • 1 tablespoon vinegar
  • 1 egg
  • 1/2 cup ice water

Step 1

Mix the flour, shorting, sugar, and salt with a pastery blender or your fingers. In a separate bowl, beatthe vinegar, egg and water together. When crumbs are fin3e, gradually pour the liquid on top. Stir or toss with a fork untill ingredients are moist. Form into a ball. Chill in the refrigerator, covered, for at least 15 minutes before rolling out. Divide into 5 balls. Roll each on a floured board or between two sheets off wax paper. Place in a pie pan and crimp edges. These freeze well, wrapped in plastic wrap. To bake place in a preheated 425 oven for 8-10 minutes or untill golden brown.
