Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 1 1/2 cups sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 1 ounce red food coloring
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 tablespoon white vinegar
  • 2 cups flour
  • 1/3 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt

Step 1

Prepare muffin pans or line with paper cups. In large bowl cream butter, sugar, add eggs, buttermilk, red food coloring & vanilla. Add baking soda & vinegar. Add flour, cocoa powder & salt. Stir in until blended. Spoon batter into muffin pan. Bake 350 degrees for 20-25 minutes. Cool, frost with desired frosting.
