Ingredients

  • Roll
  • 5 eggs
  • 2 tablespoons cocoa
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 1/2 pint whipping cream
  • Icing
  • 1 cup pulverized sugar
  • 2 tablespoons boiling water
  • 1 tablespoon cocoa
  • 2 tablespoons melted butter

Preparation

Step 1

Roll
Beat yolks, add sugar and cocoa gradually, and beat well
Add stiffly beaten whites, and beat 5 minutes
Grease large, oblong pan, and line with greased wax paper
Bake in moderate oven 10 minutes
Turn out on tea towel or napkin (or damp cloth), cover with damp cloth, and let cool
Spread with one-half pint cream, whipped stiff, and roll like a jelly roll
Add 2 tablespoons sugar and a little vanilla to cream when just about whipped, then whip a few more times
Cover with icing

Icing
Mix ingredients together ad cover roll with this icing
Stir until smooth - you do not cook this icing.
