  • 1 # lasagna noodles
  • 3/4 # grated cheddar
  • 2 1/2 sticks butter
  • 2 medium onions chopped
  • 1 lrg can/bottle sauerkraut washed well & drained
  • 8-10 medium potatoes cokked and mashed



Step 1

Saute 1 onion in 1/2 stick of butter. Add kraut & 1 cup of water, steam & cook slowly adding more water if needed until kraut is light brown. Salt & pepper to taste & set aside
Add cheese to mashed potatoes and keep warm
Cook noodles & set aside
Saute remaining onion in 1/2 stick of butter till soft but not brown. Add onions to potato mixture, blend well add salt & pepper to taste.
Butter a 9x13 baking dish, layer noodles, potato mix, noodles then kraut. Continue layering with kraut & potato mix til gone. Top with final noodle layer
Drizzle with remaining butter, cover with foil & bake at 350 for 20-25 minutes
