Ingredients
- 1 lb. ground beef
- 1 1/2 tsp. salt
- 1/4 tsp. sage
- 3 onions wedged
- 1/2 c. soft bread crumbs
- 1 egg
- 1/2 c. water
- 3 sm. potatoes halved
- 4 lg. carrots, cut to 2” pieces
- 1 c. 3/4” pieces celery
- 1 sm. head cabbage, wedged

Preparation
Step 1
Sprinkle 1 tsp salt & sage over ground beef.
Finely chop 1 wedge onion.
Add chopped onion, bread crumbs, & egg to beef, mixing lightly but thoroughly.
Shape into 8 balls & brown slowly in cooking fat in lg. fry pan.
Add water, potatoes, carrots, celery, & remaining onion wedges.
Cover tightly & cook slowly 15 min.
Add cabbage wedges.
Sprinkle with ½ tsp. salt, ¼ tsp. paprika, & ⅛ tsp. pepper, cover, & continue cooking 15 min. or until cabbage is tender.
