  • 3/4 pound butter
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 2 cups flour
  • 2 pounds each raisins and currants
  • 1 pounds each figs and citron
  • 1/2 pound chopped dates
  • 1/2 pound each pecans and almond
  • 1 wine glass each black molasses, coffee and whiskey
  • 2 tablespoon blackberry jam
  • 1/2 cup cooked dried apples, sweetened
  • 10 eggs
  • juice of one orange
  • 1 teaspoon allspice

Step 1

Beat eggs until very light, cream butter and sugar the add eggs, molasses, coffee, whiskey, flour and spices and mix.

Cut fruits very fine and dredge with flour, 1/2 cup) then add to cake. Add juice of orange, jam, apples and almond and pecans. Stir together and bake at 300 degrees.

If baked in small pans, about on hour or 1 1/2 hour. While hot, pour sweet wine over and let soak in.
