Ingredients
- 6 cups water
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 tablespoon oil
- 2 cups elbow macaroni (8 oz)
- 2-1/2 cups cold milk
- 2 tablespoons cornstarch
- 1/4 cup butter
- 1/4 cup grated onion
- 1/2 teaspoon dry mustard
- 1/4 teaspoon worcestershire sauce
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/8 teaspoon pepper
- 1-1/2 cups shredded Cheddar cheese (6 oz)
- 1 tablespoon butter
- 1/4 cups fresh breadcrumbs

Step 1
Butter a 2 quart casserole: set aside. Boil macaroni until al dente. Place in a casserole dish.
In a medium saucepan, blend milk into cornstarch. Add 1/4 cup butter, onion, mustard, Worcester sauce, salt and pepper. Bring to a boil over medium heat, stirring constantly. Reduce heat to low. Stir in cheese. Continue stirring until cheese melts. Spoon over macaroni. Melt 1 tablespoon butter or margarine in a small skillet. Stir breadcrumbs in melted butter to toast lightly. Sprinkle toasted breadcrumbs over casserole. Place casserole in cold oven. Set termperatures control at 350*. Bake 20 minutes until golden. Makes 6 servings.
