Ingredients
- 3 to 4 c. potatoes, peeled and cubed
- 1 c. onion, diced
- 1 c. celery, diced
- 6-1/2 oz. can minced clams, drained and juice reserved
- 8-oz. bottle clam juice
- 3/4 c. butter
- 3/4 c. all-purpose flour
- 1 qt. half-and-half
- 1/2 t. sugar
- 1-1/2 t. salt
- 1/8 t. pepper

Preparation
Step 1
Place vegetables in a large saucepan; add reserved clam juice and bottled clam juice. Add just enough water to cover vegetables; bring to a boil over medium heat. Reduce heat; simmer, covered, until vegetables are tender, about 10 to 15 minutes. In a separate saucepan over medium heat, melt butter; whisk in flour and cook for one minute. Add half-and-half, sugar, salt and pepper, whisking until smooth. Cook on low for 3 to 4 minutes; stir into vegetable mixture. Heat through, 5 to 10 minutes.
