- 1/3 cup maple syrup
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1/2 cup sliced almonds
- 1/4 cup wheat germ
- 2 tbsp butter

Step 1
Preheat oven to 350 F. Oil a 9-by-9-inch baking dish. Slice pears in 1/4-inch-thick wedges. Arrange in rows in the baking dish.
Mix syrup and vanilla; drizzle this mixture over the pears. Sprinkle with almonds and wheat germ; dot with butter.
Bake, basting occasionally with the juices that accumulate, until pears are tender, 10 to 15 minutes.
