Ingredients

  • 2 cups ground or pureed cooked beans (preferably red or pink)
  • 2/3 cup ground sunflower seeds
  • 1/4 cup chopped onion
  • 1/2 tsp chili powder
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 2 tbsp safflower oil
  • 3 to 4 tbsp catsup
  • 1/2 cup wheat germ
  • 8 thin slices cheddar cheese

Preparation

Step 1

Preheat oven to 350 F. Combine all ingredients except cheese, adding enough wheat germ so that the mixture will hold its shape. Form into 8 small patties. Cover each with cheese slice. Place on a lightly-oiled baking sheet and bake for 25 minutes, basting occasionally.
