Ingredients

  • Topping:
  • 1 cup firmly packed dark brown sugar
  • 2/3 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 tsp ground nutmeg
  • 1/2 cup (1 stick) cold unsalted butter, cut into small pieces
  • Cake:
  • 2 cups cake flour
  • 2 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/2 cup (1 stick) unsalted butter, at room temperature
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tsp vanilla
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 2 cups blueberries
  • Confectioners' sugar, for garnish

Preparation

Step 1

Heat oven to 350 F. Butter and flour 9-inch tube pan with a removable bottom.

Topping: Mix sugar, flour, cinnamon and nutmeg in bowl. Cut in butter until crumbly.

Cake: Combine flour, baking powder and salt in small bowl.

Beat butter in large bowl until creamy. Add sugar; beat until fluffy. Beat in egg and vanilla. On low speed, add flour mixture alternately with milk to butter mixture, beating well after each addition.

Spread half the batter in prepared pan. Cover with berries. Drop in remaining batter by tablespoons. Cover with topping.

Bake in 350 F oven for 55 to 60 minutes, until deep golden brown. Remove pan to wire rack to cool slightly. Remove side. Sprinkle with confectioners' sugar.
