Ingredients

  • I don't often measure my ingredients in the buttercream but made an exception today and actually took note of how much of everything I added :) Yea Me!
  • Katie's Vanilla Buttercream (this was enough to frost about 30 cupcakes with a generous amount of frosting)
  • 1 1/2 cups unsalted butter at room temperature
  • 6-8 cups icing sugar
  • 1 tbsp vanilla extract
  • 1/3 cup milk

Preparation

Step 1

In a large bowl, beat the butter on medium speed until it's creamy.

Add the sugar 1 cup at a time beating well after each addition.

After the 6th cup of sugar, add the milk and vanilla extract, beating until smooth. (You may need to add it before the 6th cup...I have a pretty heavy-duty mixer that can handle a lot, but if using a hand mixer you may want to add the liquid a bit earlier) At this point if the icing is holding a nice shape, you can fill the piping bag with the desired tip and frost away! If the icing is a little bit loose add powdered sugar until it's thick enough to pipe and hold a nice shape.
