Ingredients

  • 0-1/4 lbs. of ground meat per person. Ground up chicken livers and gizzards/leftover dark meat is the most common but you can also use hamburger or sausage meat
  • 1/3 c. per person water or low sodium, fat free broth
  • dash low sodium Worsteshire Sauce
  • dash salt-free Cajun seasoning
  • 1/4 c. chopped onions/ person
  • 1/4 c. chopped celery/person
  • 1/2 t. minced garlic/person
  • 1/8 c. uncooked rice (brown works fine, it just cooks longer)

THESE DIRECTIONS ARE FOR THE AROMA RICE COOKER.

press saute the simmer on the rice cooker, add in meat, onions and celery with some butter or olive oil, saute till cooked through.

add in seasoning’s, rinsed, uncooked rice and liquid.

Set to cook as white rice, even if its brown. The difference is that, with brown rice, do NOT open lid when rice cooker beeps, let it sit on warm an additional 15 minutes. Open lid, stir. If the rice is still too hard, add some liquid and cook longer (check every 10 minutes). If you are a frequent eater of Cajun foods and enjoy the spiciness, you may add Tabasco at the table.
