Ingredients

  • Topping:
  • 8 large green apples
  • 1 C brown sugar
  • 1/4 C water
  • 1 Tb lemon juice
  • 1/4 C Flour
  • 2 TB sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla
  • 3 TB margerine
  • 1 pie crust
  • 1 1/4 C flour
  • 1/2 C +2 TB sugar
  • 1/2 C +2TB brown sugar
  • 1/2 C margerine
  • cinnamon

Preparation

Step 1

Pie:
in large saucepan, ove medium heat, place apples, brown sugar, water and lemon juice. Bring to boil. Lower heat and simmer for 8 minutes or until apples are tender. Push apples to side of saucepan.
Add flour 1TB at a time, mixing with fork.Stir add sugar and cook, stirring over medium heat until thick and boiling. Stir 1 minute.
Remove from heat. add vanilla and margerine. mix well.
Let cool. Preheat oven to 325.
Pour apple mixture into crust.

Topping: combine flour, sugar, brown sugar and margerine. Sprinkle with cinnamon. Bake for 45 minutes.
