Ingredients
- 1 stick of butter
- 1 1/2 cups granulated sugar
- 2 eggs
- 1/4 cup molasses
- 1/4 cup dark coffee or warm water
- 1 cup raisins
- 1/2 cup chopped dates
- 1 cup chopped pecans or walnuts
- 2 1/2 cups flour
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
- 1/2 teaspoon cloves or ginger

Step 1
Pour a cup of warm black coffee or water over raisins and let soak.
In large bowl mix butter, eggs, molasses until smooth and well combined.
Mix dry ingredients in medium bowl- flour, baking soda, salt, spices, nuts.
Drain the soaking raisins, reserving 1/4 cup of coffee.
Add raisins, dates, 1/4 cup coffee to the butter mix.
Add dry mix to the wet. Stir until well blended.
For cookies: Cookie sheet, well greased or with parchment paper, scoop rounded tablespoonfuls at least 2" apart and bake at 375 for 12-14 minutes. Watch time!
For bars: Spread on well greased 11 x 17 sheet cake pan and bake at 350F for 25 minutes. Maybe a little more.
