Ingredients

  • Icing:
  • 1 C. molasses
  • ½ C. sweet milk
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tea. cinnamon
  • 1 tea. cloves
  • 1 tea. allspice
  • 1 T. shortening
  • 2 C. self-rising flour
  • 2 tea. baking powder
  • 1/4 tea. salt
  • ● Cream shortening and add egg, and beat well.
  • ● Add molasses and milk.
  • ● Slowly add dry ingredients.
  • ● Bake in well greased and floured pan.
  • ● Combine sugar, butter, vanilla and enough sweet milk to melt sugar.
  • ● Let mixture come to a good boil.
