  • 1 ½ cup of shortening
  • 2 cups of brown sugar
  • 2 eggs beaten
  • 1 cup molasses
  • 4 ½ cups of flour
  • 1 teaspoon of salt
  • 4 teaspoons of baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon cloves
  • 2 teaspoons of ginger
  • 2 teaspoons of cinnamon

Step 1

1. Cream shortening and sugar together.
2. Add eggs, molasses and beat well.
3. Add flour sifted with salt, soda, and spices.
4. Mix dough until easy to handle and roll in small balls.
5. Flatten on greased cookie sheets and bake 10-12 minutes at 375.
