Ingredients
- 5 lbs. apples, quartered, about 8 apples (do not peel or core apples)
- 2 cups apple cider or water
- 2 cups sugar
- 3 tsp. ground cinnamon
- 1 1/2 tsp. ground cloves
- 3/4 tsp. ground allspice

Step 1
Put apples and cider/water in a large pot. Cover and boil gently until apples are soft, about 30 minutes. Put apples and liquid through a food mill. Should come up with 6 cups sauce.
Return apple puree to the pot and add sugar and spices. Cook over medium low heat until thick 90-120 minutes.
Alternate: Cook in slow cooker on LOW overnight.
Put hot puree in sterilized jars, leaving 1/4" headspace and process in a hot water bath for 10 minutes.
Yields 6 half pint jars
