Ingredients
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 1/4 cupcbutte, softened
- 1 egg, slightly beaten
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/2 teaspoon ginger
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1.2 teaspoon allspice
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 cup buttermilk
- 1/4 cup molasses

Step 1
1. Heat oven to 375 degrees. In a large mixing bowl, combine sugar and
butter; blend well. Add egg, beating until just mixed.
2. Sift together flour, ginger, cinnamon, allspice, salt and baking
soda. Add sifted mixture alternately with the buttermilk and
molasses. Bake 20-25 minutes, until the top springs back when lightly
touched.
