  • FROSTING:
  • 1-3/4 cup flour
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 3/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder (Dark or Dutch are best)
  • 2 tsp baking soda
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 cup strong black coffee (intensifies chocolate flavor)
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 1/2 cup vegetable oil
  • 1 tsp pure vanilla extract
  • 1 cup real butter, softened
  • 1 cup unsweetened cocoa powder (Dark or Dutch are best)
  • 1 tsp pure vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup milk or coffee
  • 4 cups powdered sugar

Preparation

Step 1

….. Combine flour, sugar, cocoa, baking soda & powder and salt in large mixing bowl ~ add eggs, coffee, buttermilk, oil and vanilla ~ beat at medium speed for 2 minutes (batter will be thin). Pour batter into greased & floured (or baking spray) 9x13” pan or 2 9” cake pans. Bake at 350 for 35-40 minutes (9x13”) or 30-35 minutes (9” layer pans). Cool completely and frost

FROSTING:
Beat butter, cocoa powder and vanilla in electric mixer ~ Add sugar and continue to beat, adding milk gradually, just until thick & creamy and spreading consistency
