Chicken - Val's BBQ
Works best with dark meat
- Make Barbecue Sauce:
- 1 Can (15 oz) Tomato Sauce
- 1 envelope Italian Salad Dressing Mix
- 1/4 cup white vinegar
- 1/4 Molasses
- 2 Tablespoons salad Oil
- 1 teaspoon dried mustard
- Lawrys Garlic Salt
- Chicken - large package of thighs (and legs)
DAY BEFORE SERVING:
Make Barbecue Sauce: Combine all ingredients in a saucepan. Heat and let simmer for about 3 -4 minutes. So that all the flavors integrate.
Rinse chicken pieces with water and sprinkle the Lawrys Garlic Salt all over. Bake in oven at 350 degrees for about 35 minutes
Coat cooked chicken in the barbecue sauce and refrigerate overnight.
DAY OF SERVING (AT LEAST 2- 3 HOURS BEFORE)
Barbecue chicken on grill so that you have that nice barbecued burnt look.
Set oven at 200 F
Place chicken in an oven proof container and seal it with aluminum foil - tightly. Bake chicken for 2-3 hours
This is the process that makes the chicken fall off the bone.
Keep chicken in oven until ready to serve.
