Ingredients

    3 large Eggs

  • 1/2 1/2

    1/2 cup milk

  • 1/4 1/4

    1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg

  • 1 1

    1 teaspoon Cinnamon

  • 1 1

    1 teaspoon sugar

  • 1/2 1/2

    1/2 teaspoon Vanilla

  • 6 6

    6 slices cinnamon bread

  • Powdered sugar

  • Sides

  • sliced bananas or strawberries, bacon or sausage

Directions

Mix all ingredients except bread & powdered sugar well in a square baking dish or deep pie pan until well blended. Preheat oven to low heat - 175 (keep warm setting) Pre-heat a large skillet over medium low heat, add 1 tablespoon butter and swirl to coat bottom of pan. Dip each slice of bread into the egg mixture, turning to coat both sides well. Add to pan, I can get three slices in the pan I use. (Cover and cook 3 minutes, turn cover and cook three more minutes. transfer to a platter and keep warm in oven. Repeat with remaining bread. Serve French toast, sprinkle lightly with powdered sugar (I uses a leftover spice jar with holes for a sprinkler or use a fork and tap to dust) Serve with your favorite syrup or fruit - a side dish of sausage or bacon is a perfect accompaniment.
