Ingredients
- Buttermilk topping:
- 1 c oatmeal
- 1/2 c salad oil
- 1 teas cinnamon
- 1 teas salt
- 1 c white sugar
- 1 1/2 c boiling water
- 1 1/2 c flour
- 1 teas baking soda
- 1 c brown sugar
- 2 eggs
- 1 c sugar
- 1/2 teas baking soda
- 1 teas vanilla
- 1 cube butter
- 1 T karo syrup
- 1/2 c buttermilk
- Coconut topping:
- 6 T butter
- 4 T milk
- 1 c brown sugar
- 1/2 c coconut

Pour boiling water over oatmeal and let stand while preparing the following:
Mix together remaining cake ingredients, then add oats. Pour into greased pan and bake 30-40 minutes.
Top with one of the toppings.
Buttermilk:
Mix sugar, butter, baking soda, syrup and buttermilk in saucepan. Bring to boil and boil 5 minutes. REmove from heat, add vanilla and pour over hot cake.
Coconut:
Boil all ingredients for 1 1/2 minutes. Stir in coconut, spread over warm cake.
