Ingredients

  • Sour cream icing:
  • 2/3 cup margarine
  • 1 1/2 cups sugar
  • 3 lg eggs
  • 1 tsp vanilla
  • 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa
  • 2 1/4 cups sifted all-purpuse flour
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 2/3 cup sauerkraut, rinsed, drained and chopped
  • 1 6oz pkg semisweet choc chips
  • 4 tbsp butter
  • 1/2 cup sour cream
  • 1 tsp vanilla
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 2 1/2 - 2 3/4 cups confectioner's sugar

Preparation

Step 1

Preheat oven to 350, grease and flour 2 8 inch round baking pans. Cream tog margarine with sugar, beat in eggs and vanilla. Sift tog cocoa, flour, bak powder, bak soda and salt. Add dry mixture alternating with 1 cup water to the egg mixture, stir in sauerkraut. Spoon into pans, bake 30-35 min, let cool, then frost with icing...
Icing:
Melt choc chips with butter, blend in sour cream, vanilla and salt, add confectioner's sugar in stages until frosting gets thicker, blend well....
