Preparation
Step 1
Brown ground turkey slowly in large skillet, chopping to crumble meat as it browns. Add salt and pepper to taste.
While turkey is browning, crush whole tomatoes loosely by hand and add to 3 gallon stock pot.
Add crushed tomatoes and tomato sauce to stock pot.
Add 3 large cans of water to tomato mixture.
Drain all beans in large colander and add to tomato mixture. Add salt and pepper to taste.
When turkey is almost done, remove and drain (if needed). Return crumbled meat to skillet and add chopped onion, mixing in to meat mixture with wooden spoon.
Mix in ½ - ¾ cup chili powder (according to taste) to meat and onion mixture, sifting evenly and stirring until chili powder is thoroughly mixed into meat and onions. Cover and cook on low heat until onions are transparent and chili powder is absorbed by meat and onions (approximately 12 minutes).
When onions are transparent, remove meat mixture from heat and add to stock pot. Cover and simmer over low heat for 45 minutes.
