Ice Pack

Dear Heloise: I read the hint from the mother who used peas (Heloise here: a bag of frozen peas) as an ice bag. I had eye surgery and was given an ice pack, but included in the instructions for extended care was a recipe I wish I'd had when rasising my kids.

Mix 1/4 cup of rubbing alcohol with 3/4 cup of water in a small, sealable plastic lunch bag. Put it in the freezer, and it will become a little more than slushy. It is a perfect ice bag. A larger bag can be used for larger "hurts" by using the 1:3 recipe.
