Sweet Potato Casserole with Praline Topping

By

According to April Munyon, "My grandma got this awesome recipe from my great aunt. My great aunt got this recipe down in the Gulf of Mexico. She used to winter there and got it from another snowbird. The recipe calls for pecans. They were always trying new recipes using pecans because they were easy to get down there.

As a child I hated sweet potatoes. The very smell of them would ruin my appetite. My grandma started making this dish around Thanksgiving. One Thanksgiving I was brave enough to try it. I was a born again sweet potato lover! I learned how to make it by standing next to my grandma. We both have to have aprons on - that's tradition. I now make it for my own family. I feel strange not standing next to grandma, so I usually call her to let her know I'm making it on my own."
