Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough Whoopie Pies 1 Picture

Ingredients

  • For Whoopie Pies:
  • 1 2/3 cup all purpose flour
  • 2/3 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 5 Tbsp butter – room temp
  • 3 Tbsp vegetable shortening
  • 1 cup light brown sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 2 tsp vanilla
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • For Cookie Dough Filling:
  • 1 cup butter, room temperature
  • 1 cup light brown sugar, packed
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/4 cup + 2 Tbsp milk
  • 2 tsp vanilla
  • 2 cups flour
  • 1 cup mini chocolate chips

Preparation

Step 1

For Whoopie Pies:

1.Preheat oven to 375°
2.Line 2 baking sheets with parchment paper.
3.In a bowl sift together flour, cocoa powder, baking soda and salt
4.In a mixer, cream together butter, shortening and brown sugar until combined well.
5.Add egg and vanilla and beat for 2 minutes.
6.Turn mixer to low and add half of the flour/cocoa mixture, then half the milk, repeating until all the ingredients are mixed in.
7.Drop by rounded tablespoon, 2 inches apart onto prepared baking sheets.
8.Bake for 8-10 minutes until centers are set.
9.Cool on pan for 5 minutes and then transfer to wire rack to finish cooling.
10.Fill with your prepared filling.

For Cookie dough Filling:

1.In a mixer, cream together butter and both sugars.
2.Add in vanilla and milk. Stir until combined.
3.Slowly add in flour and turn mixer up to medium until mixed well.
4.Fold in chocolate chips.
5.Fill ziplock or piping bag with cookie dough and pipe
