Step 1

In large pot brown 3 lbs ground beef. Push beef to side and drain oil. Add 2 tbsp vegetable oil or shortening, saute 2 chopped medium onion and 1 chopped medium green pepper. Add 4 chopped garlic cloves, 7 tbsp chili powder, 1/8 tsp cayenne, 1 1/2 tbsp cumin, 1/2 tbsp oregano, 1/2 tbsp paprika, 1/8 tsp garlic powder, 2 1/2 tsp salt and 2 (8 oz) cans tomato sauce. Stir to combine. Then take 1 (14.5 oz) chopped tomatoes, drain and reserve liquid. Add the tomatoes to the pot. Add enough water to reserved liquid to make 3 cups. Add to put and simmer 45 minutes stirring occasionally. Add 1 (15-21 oz) can ranch style beans. Bring mixture to a boil then off the heat. For best flavor let it cool about 1.5 hours and then cover and refigerate for 24 hours. WE TRIED THIS 11/13 AND IT WAS VERY GOOD.
