Ingredients
- 1 Tbsp olive oil
- 4 cloves garlic, finely chopped
- 3/4 lb bulk Italian sausage
- 1 medium onion, chopped (1/2 cup)
- 1 medium carrot, chopped (1/2 cup)
- 2 cans (28 oz each) Italian-style pear-shaped (plum) tomatoes, drained
- 1/4 cup fresh basil leaves
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 1/2 tsp pepper
- 12 dried lasagna noodles
- 3 cups shredded mozzarella cheese (12 oz)
- 1/2 cup freshly grated or shredded Parmesan cheese

Step 1
1) Heat oil in 10" skillet over medium-high heat. Cook garlic, sausage, onion & carrot in oil, stirring occasionally, until sausage is no longer pink; drain.
2) Place tomatoes & basil in food processor or blender. Cover & process until smooth.
3) Stir tomato mixture, salt & pepper into sauce mixture. Heat to boiling; reduce heat.
4) Simmer uncovered, 30 minutes, stirring occasionally.
5) While sauce is simmering, cook lasagna noodles as directed on package.
6) Heat oven to 375 and grease 13x9 pan.
7) In medium bowl, mix cheeses.
8) Place 4 noodles in baking dish, top with half of sausage mixture and one-third of cheese mixture.
9) Repeat with 4 more noodles, remaining sausage mixture, and one-third of cheese mixture.
10) Top with remaining 4 noodles & cheese mixture.
11) Cover & bake 40 minutes or until hot & bubbly.
12) Let stand 15 minutes before cutting.
