Ingredients

  • 2 lbs ground beef
  • 1 can (29 oz) whole tomatoes with juices
  • 2 cans (8 oz each) tomato sauce
  • 1 medium onion, chopped
  • 1/2 green bell pepper, chopped
  • 1 cup uncooked, long grain rice
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp fresh ground pepper
  • 1 tsp cumin
  • 1 tsp chili powder
  • 1/2 tsp thyme
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp granulated onion or onion powder
  • 1/2 tsp paprika
  • Couple of dashes each red and green Tabasco Sauce

Preparation

Step 1

1) Preheat oven to 400 degrees F. Spray a 9x13" baking dish with non-stick cooking spray.

2) In a medium skillet, brown ground beef until no longer pink. Transfer browned ground beef with a slotted spoon to the baking dish.

3) Drain the juices from the can of tomates into baking dish and either break up the tomatoes with a spoon or cut them into smaller pieces and add to the baking dish.

4) Add all of the remaining ingredients to the baking dish and mix well. (You may want to add 1/2 can of water in each of the tomato sauce cans and add those to the dish as well).

5) Cover baking dish with foil and bake in preheated oven for 1 hour or until rice is tender.
