Ingredients

  • 2 quarts popped corn
  • 1 cup salted peanuts or almonds
  • 1 cup wheat germ
  • 1 cup raisins
  • 1/4 cup butter or margarine
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1/3 cup honey
  • 1/3 cup water
  • 1/2 tsp salt

Step 1

Combine popcorn, peanuts, wheat germ and raisins in large bowl.

Melt butter in heavy saucepan; stir in sugar, honey, water and salt. Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly until sugar is dissolved and mixture boils. Continue cooking to hard ball stage, 260 F or until mixture is slightly brittle when dropped into cold water.

Slowly pour syrup over popcorn mixture, stirring to coat all pieces. Turn onto buttered 10-by-15-inch pans. Bake at 250 F for 45 minutes, stirring every 10 minutes. Break apart as mixture cools. Gift pack in decorative metal box or plastic-wrap lined basket; top with bow.
