Ingredients
- 1 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/2 tsp baking soda
- 1/2 cup butter at room temperature (do not use marg)
- 3/4 cup packed light-or dark brown sugar
- 1 large egg
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 2/3 cup pecans, chopped coarse
- 2/3 cup chips: semisweet chocolate, butterscotch, peanut butter, vanilla-milk or a combination

Preparation
Step 1
Heat oven to 350F. Have cookie sheets ready.
Mix flour and baking soda.
Beat butter, sugar, egg and vanilla in a large bowl with electric mixer until well blended. With mixer on low speed, gradually add flour mixture. Beat just until blended. Stir in coarsely chopped pecans and chips. Drop rounded tablespoonfuls 2 inches apart on ungreased cookie sheets.
Bake 11 to 13 minutes until edges are lightly browned. Tops will feel soft.
Cool cookies on cookie sheet for 2 - 3 minutes before removing to rack to cook completely.
