Ingredients
- 1 1/2 cups sugar
- 1/2 cup whole buttermilk
- 1 1/2 tbsp. light colored corn syrup
- 1/2 tsp. baking soda
- Dash of salt
- 2/3 cup chopped pecans, toasted
- 1 1/2 tsp. butter
- 1 tbsp. vanilla

Step 1
Combine first 5 ingredients in a large heavy saucepan. Cook over low heat until sugar dissolves, stirring constantly. Continue cooking until candy thermometer registers 234 degrees (about 10 minutes), stirring occasionally. Remove from heat and let stand 5 minutes. Stir nuts, butter and vanilla into mixture. Beat with a wooden spoon until the mixture begins to lose it's shine (about 5 minutes). Drop by teaspoonful's onto wax paper. Let stand for 30 minutes. Yields 30 pieces.
