Honey-Whole Wheat Walnut Bread

  • 2 1/4 teaspoons instant yeast
  • 1 cup + 2 tablespoons water
  • 3 tablespoons butter
  • 2 tablespoons (1 1/2 ounces) honey
  • 3 cups King Arthur 100% White Whole Wheat Flour
  • 1 1/4 teaspoons salt
  • 1 cup (4 ounces) diced walnuts, toasted* and crushed



Step 1

*To toast walnuts, bake in a preheated 350 degree F oven for 8 to 11 minutes, until they'n smell toasty.

In a large bowl, combine all of the ingredients and stir till the dough starts to leave Knead the dough---by hand, in an electric mixer, or in a bread machine programme cycle---until it's smooth (aside from the walnuts), and supple.
