Ingredients
- 1 Tbsp olive oil
- 4 cloves garlic, finely chopped
- 1 small onion, chopped (1/4 cup)
- 2 cans (28 oz each) Italian-style pear-shaped (plum) tomatoes, drained
- 2 Tbsp chopped fresh or 2 tsp dried basil leaves
- 2 Tbsp chopped fresh or 2 tsp dried oregano leaves
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/2 tsp pepper

Step 1
1) Heat oil in 3-qt saucepan over medium-high heat.
2) Cook garlic & onion in oil about 5 minutes, stirring frequently, until onion is tender.
3) Cut tomatoes with kitchen shears over pan, cutting into small 1/2" pieces or smaller.
4) Stir tomatoes & remaining ingredients into onion mixture. Heat to boiling; reduce heat.
5) Simmer uncovered 45 minutes, stirring occasionally.
6) Use sauce immediately, or cover & refrigerate up to 48 hours, or freeze up to 2 months.
