Ingredients

  • Pastry dough for 2 crusts:
  • 1 c. shortening
  • 2 &1/2-3/4 c. flour
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • 2 &1/2 tsp. vinegar
  • Water
  • Potatoes, diced
  • Carrots, diced
  • Rutabaga, diced
  • Onion, diced
  • 1 &1/2 lb. hamburger

Step 1

Dough:

Put egg in ½ c. measure cup, beat & add vinegar; fill cup to top with water. Cut flour into shortening till crumbly, add remaining ingredients. Blend well. Refrigerate for several min. before working dough. Can freeze unused dough.

Soak potatoes, carrots & rutabagas in bowl of water; then by handfuls, spread over dough (ok if water from veg. gets on crust.) Put scoops of raw hamburger over veg. Sprinkle with chopped onions & salt & pepper. Will have mound about 6 in. high.) Cover with 2nd half of dough, seal edges well. Bake @ 350 degrees 1&½ hrs.
