Strawberry Pie--Lois Bluhm

This was one of two pies brought by a wonderful lady from the Cherry Hills choir when they brought a meal to my family the day after Mom's funeral. The pies were AMAZING!

Ingredients
- 10-inch baked single pie crust
- 1 1/2 cups water
- 1 1/2 cups sugar
- 1/4 cup cornstarch
- dash salt
- 1 3-ounce package strawberry jello
- red food coloring if desired
- 1 quart sliced fresh strawberries
- whipped topping

Step 1
Bake pie shell according to instructions and cool.
Combine water, sugar, salt and cornstarch. Mix well to dissolve. Cook over medium heat until clear. Remove from heat. Add jello and food coloring. Stir and let cool. Place strawberries in pie crust, filling it in layers. Pour sauce over strawberries, pouring slowly. Do not overflow pie crust. Chill in refrigerator. Top with whipped topping.
