  • 1 cup unsalted butter (2 sticks)
  • 1 cup packed brown sugar
  • 2 cups semisweet chocolate chips

Step 1

1. Preheat oven to 425 degrees and line a large jelly roll pan with aluminum foil or parchment paper. Line saltine crackers salt-side down in a single layer on the cookie sheet.
2. In a small pot combine sugar and butter and bring to a boil. Once mixture is at a boil, continue boiling for 3 minutes. Mixture should be a deep caramel color. Immediately pour over saltines and spread to cover crackers completely.
3. Put the jelly-roll pan into the oven and bake for 3 to 5 minutes, or until just bubbly, watching carefully. Remove from the oven and pour the chocolate chips over the crackers. When the chips melt a bit, spread them over the crackers with a knife or offset spatula.
4. Transfer the pan to the refrigerator for an hour or until completely cold. They will form one big sheet. Break up into pieces. Store in an airtight container.
