These are soft, cake-like cookies. They were a family recipe from a friend in the Air Force in North Dakota.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup lard
  • 1 box brown sugar
  • 4 eggs
  • 4 cups flour
  • 4 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • Dash of salt
  • 1/2 bag chocolate chips (or more)

Preparation

Step 1

Preheat oven to 350 degrees.

Combine lard, sugar and eggs. Add the dry ingredients, alternately with the milk. Stir in the chocolate chips.

She never wrote how long to bake, but watch them--I think its around 10 minutes a batch.
