Ingredients
- 3 pounds round steak (thin)
- 2 1/2 cups bread crumbs
- 2/3 cup grated romano cheese
- 3 Tbs chopped parsley
- 1 garlic cloved, minced
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/8 tsp pepper
- 1/2 cup water (approximately)
- Several small pats of butter
- 1 large can tomatoes
- 1 large can tomato puree
- Salt and pepper to taste
- basil to taste

Preparation
Step 1
Combine bread crumbs, cheese, parsley, garlic, salt and pepper. Add water gradually stirring until crumbs are slightly dampened.
Cut round steak down center for ease of rolling. Salt inner side of meat before covering with mixture. Press mixture into meat. Put little pats of butter on top of mixture. Roll up steak to enclose mixture and tie very securely.
Brown rolled steaks in oil or shortening. Add tomatoes and tomato puree, salt, basil and mix well. Simmer 3 hours. Slice and serve.
