Valentine’s Pinwheel Cookies

Ingredients
- 1 cup butter (2 sticks), softened
- 1 1/3 cup sugar
- 1 egg
- 1 tsp vanilla
- 1/4 cup milk
- 3 cups flour
- 2 tsp baking powder
- 1/2 tsp salt
- red food coloring

Preparation
Step 1
1.Cream together your butter and sugar until well mixed in a large mixing bowl.
2.Add in your egg, vanilla and milk and stir to combine.
3.Dump in your dry ingredients; flour, baking powder and salt. Mix until just combined.
4.Separate your dough into 2 equal parts.
5.Return 1 part of your dough into your large bowl. Add in drops of red food coloring and mix until desired color is reached.
6.Roll each of your dough parts out on a lightly floured surface. Roll into a long rectangle, about 1/4 inch thick.
7.Take one of the dough parts and place it on top of the other. Cut edges to make them the same size.
8.Roll parts up together like a cinnamon roll.
9.Press final edge into the roll to seal.
10.Wrap with plastic wrap and place in refrigerator for 2 hours up to a few days.
11.When ready to bake, preheat oven to 350 degrees.
12.Cut dough off of log into about 1/4 inch slices.
13.Place cookies a couple inches apart on a baking sheet sprayed with nonstick spray.
14.Bake for about 10 minutes until edges of cookie start to turn golden.
15.Transfer cookies to cookie rack to cool.
