Ingredients
- 1 1/2 qt milk
- 1 1/2 c sugar
- 5 tbsp cornstarch
- 6 eggs
- 1/2 c sherry
- 2 c heavy cream
- Raspberry or strawberry preserves

Preparation
Step 1
Pour milk into top of double boiler. (Unless you have an enormous double boiler, this must be done in two batches.) In a mixing bowl, beat together sugar, cornstarch, and eggs until smooth. Add milk and heat until mixture is thickened, stirring constantly. Set aside to cool.
Add sherry to cooled custard.
