Ingredients
- 2 onions
- 1 lb. ground beef
- 1 egg
- 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
- 1 teaspoon salt, divided
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper, divided
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 tablespoon canola oil
- 2 cloves garlic
- 3 cups low sodium beef broth
- 1 tablespoon cornstarch, mixed with 1 tablespoon cold water

Step 1
Cut 1 onion in half. Grate half and slice the other half. Slice the 2nd onion as well. In a mixing bowl, combine grated onion, ground beef, egg, mustard, 1/2 teaspoon salt, 1/4 teaspoon black pepper and garlic powder. Make into 4 patties.
Heat oil in skillet over medium high heat. Sear patties for 2 minutes on each side. Remove to a paper towel lined plate. Pour off fat from skillet,sauté sliced onions for 10 minutes over medium heat. Add garlic cloves and cook 2 minutes. Pour in broth, 1/2 teaspoon salt and 1/4 teaspoon black pepper.
Bring to a simmer and cook, covered for 5 minutes. Stir in cornstarch mixture. Add patties and simmer covered for 10 minutes.
