Picadillo

If you haven’t yet tried Picadillo, you’ve been missing out! Picadillo is a ground beef dish that is popular all over South America including Mexico. This is a simple but very delicious Picadillo recipe that your whole family will enjoy

Ingredients
- 1 pound ground beef
- 4 medium tomatoes, seeded and diced
- 8 green olives, pitted and sliced into quarters
- 2 tablespoons of olive liquid
- 4 garlic cloves, chopped
- 1/4 cup raisins (softened by soaking in warm water for 20 minutes)
- 1 poblano chile or green bell pepper, seeded and chopped (optional)
- 2 jalapenos seeded and diced (optional)
- 1/2 an onion, diced
- 1 small cone of piloncillo or 1 teaspoon brown sugar mixed with 1 teaspoon mollasses.
- 1/4 cup oil (optional, for potatoes)
- 2 potatoes peeled and cubed (optional, see below)
- 1 teaspoon cumin
- 1/4 teaspoon ground cloves

Preparation
Step 1
1. In a large pan, cook beef, jalapenos and onions over medium heat until ground beef is about halfway cooked.
2. Add garlic and cook for 2 more minutes.
3. Add remaining ingredients and cook over low heat until beef is well browned.
Optional-Potatoes:
1. In a large pan, cook potatoes in oil over medium heat. When potatoes have softened and browned, fold into beef mixture and serve.
P.S. You can either serve this by itself or accompanied by rice. It’s also a great filling for tamales, tacos or empanadas.
