Ingredients

  • 1/2 stick butter
  • 2 1/2 lbs lean ground beef*
  • 2 white onions
  • 1 tbsp seasoned salt
  • 1 tbsp black pepper
  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire powder
  • 4 drops Tabasco sauce
  • 1 tbsp sugar
  • 5 peeled and diced large potatoes
  • 2 cups beef consomme or beef stock

Preparation

Step 1

Melt butter in large skillet. Add ground beef and brown. Blend in all other ingredients. Cover and bring to a boil. Reduce heat to simmer and cook until potatoes are tender. Stir frequently.


*Instead of ground beef, I usually use leftover roast or smoked brisket. If you add 1 tsp or so of flour after potatoes are tender, the juice will thicken to gravy. Great on flour tortillas.
