  • meat sauce:
  • 1-15 oz ricotta cheese
  • 1 egg slightly beaten
  • 1 c grated parmesan cheese
  • 12 oz mozzarella cheese
  • 16 oz lasagne noodles cooked 7 minutes and drained
  • 2 T oil
  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 c chopped onion
  • 3 cloves garlic minced
  • 1/2 c chopped parsley
  • 2-28 oz tomatoes
  • 1-6 oz tomato paste
  • 2 t sugar
  • 2 t dried basil leaves
  • 1-1/2 t salt
  • 1 t dried oregano
  • 1/4 t pepper



Step 1

Make meat sauce, see below.Cook noodles 7 minutes and drain. In bowl stir together ricotta, egg, and 3/4c parmesan cheese. In a 9x13 pan spread 1-1/2c meat sauce. Layer 1/3 of noodles. 2c sauce, 1/2 of ricotta mixture, and 1/3 of the mozzarella cheese. Repeat once. Top with remaining noodles, sauce and cheeses. Bake at 350 for 50 minutes or until bubbly.
Meat Sauce:
In 5qt dutch oven heat oil over medium heat. Add ground beef, onion, garlic, and parsley. Stirring frequently for about 10 minutes or until beef is browned. In a blender, place 2 cans tomatoes; cover. Blend on high 30 seconds or until finely chopped. Add to beef mixture. Stir in tomato paste, sugar, basil, salt, oregano, and pepper. Bring to a boil, reduce heat and simmer stirring occasionally for 45 minutes.
